A quick look at YouTube’s new html5 video player. It is still beta so features are still being added. Eventually, it is expected that this new video player will replace the sluggish and vulnerable flash player.

Any good links or tutorials to become an HTML “pro”?

Question by : Any good links or tutorials to become an HTML “pro”?
I’d like to create my own website, mainly to share my artwork. I know the basics of HTML, yet that’s about it. Can anyone give me some good links to take me one step further and aid me in making a beautiful website? I want it to be fully HTML-based, no flash (it’s already hard enough to master HTML and I know nothing about flash).

Check this site out manuelmark.com for an example of what I’m aiming for, sort of.
Agreed that I’d need to know CSS as well, what I meant by HTML-based was that it should be fully useable with an iPad (therefore, no flash); sorry about the confusion.

And that’s an interesting idea! Had never thought about seeing the coding of other websites, will definitely do that; thanks!

Beautiful site that is.

You will need to learn a smattering of CSS as well. But, to get you started on the road to HTML Nirvana, all you need to do is start going to those Web sites that you find aesthetically pleasing and view their html code.

Just right-click on the background of a Web page you like and choose to view the page’s source. A window will open up revealing all the html and CSS code. On my system, CSS documents that are linked can be viewed by clicking the link; but I’m not sure that is also available in Windows.

If you’re lucky, you’ll find Web pages that are done in HTML 3.2 style, using the

, and other “older” tags. A lot of folks are switching or have switched to lowercase tags, or even
tags. Some folks still use the paradigm. But the world is being dragged into the way of doing things.

HTML Editor to add “shopping cart” to my web site (PayPayl)??

Question by PAM L: HTML Editor to add “shopping cart” to my web site (PayPayl)??
I have a web site where I want to sell specialized fishing jigs. I registered as a business user on PayPal so that customers can use my web site to purchase items. The PayPal instructions say for me to use a “text editor” or an HTML editor. I have no idea how to use these, or where to obtain them. I searched the net under both of these & quickly became MORE confused, not less. I just need to be able to paste the html code from PayPal into my web page next to the item I want to sell. They make it sound simple, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about this and PayPal offers no further info. Anyone out there know anything about this? Thanks in advance!

You can use Netscape (free!) in the composer mode to create your webpage, and it will generate the HTML code for you!
Save the file with name index.html and upload that.
To give you an example of how that can look, view my website at http://www.hoppelpoppel.com

That was done using Netscape.

How can I change the background of my web page depending on the time only using XHTML?

Just so you know, it isn’t really common practice to use framesets in XTHML. It’s preferable to use CSS. In any case, you can find info at http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/frames.html about HTML 4.01 frames. You’d have to adapt it slightly for XHTML.

How can I get the HTML code for a Word Document?

I have a word document that I want to implement into a web-based document server but I need the HTML source code to copy from the word document to the server. How can I get the source code (HTML) for a word document so I can do this?

A Word document does not have HTML source code. It is a Word document, not a Web page.

You can convert and export Word as html using a Save As function from Word, but the html code it creates is terrible.

GEOCITIES missing index.html, index.htm page?

When launching my Yahoo GEOCITIES web page, to start it, a message says "you have no index.html or index.htm page" . What is this and what do I do about it?

you need to name your home page as index.htm under your assigned website address.

hellow guys i can’t seem to get to this pinoy youtube website for about 3 weeks now and it says on the web page…The file /home/youtube/public_html/index.php is corrupted. ….what does this mean? also does it mean that this website is no longer available?

That is not even a proper URL you gave. Wish you had given the complete URL as your used it as "public_html" is not accessible period. That is what you may see if you accessed your site using FTP.
