Getting a SEO Friendly Design with a Custom Thesis Theme

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

It is common knowledge that a SEO friendly design is the best thing for your web site. A custom thesis theme from DIYThemes is a powerful, yet simple first step you can make to ensure that your site has a SEO friendly design. Exactly what does a custom Thesis theme have to do with SEO? A Thesis theme is web site/blogging framework created by Chris Pearson and Brian Clark, that runs on the WordPress platform, and is the personification of SEO friendly design. It is widely reckoned to be the ultimate in premium WordPress themes, but in actuality, it is so much more.

A lot of Wordpress themes forgo rock solid code as a design trade-off. Search engines analyze the html code that makes up a web site to establish precisely what the site is about. By knowing what a site is all about helps Google, Bing, Yahoo, and the rest, determine how relevant the content of a site is to particular phrases being used for search. Having errors in the HTML code prevents the search engines from knowing just where to rank a particular site, because it cannot determine just how relevant the content of the site is. Having a SEO friendly design basically means that the code behind a design is valid and optimized. Everything else being equal, search engines like clean, valid, optimized code better, and the better they like your site, the more traffic it will receive. This is where a custom Thesis theme really sparkles.

Basic SEO Friendly Design Concepts

When the code that search engines see is linked to your page design elements, concessions have to be made that effect how clean your code looks to the search engine. Thesis theme separates the html code from the design mark-up, and gives you a very SEO friendly design. Search engines love it, and if your site relies on traffic, you’re going to love it too. It gives you an distinctive, i. e. unduplicated, look to the search engines. A web site based on a custom Thesis theme can be altered at will, without you ever having to be concerned about if the design changes will diminish your standings with Google or Yahoo or Bing. Plain and simple, the search engines like the WordPress platform, for the most part, but with a custom Thesis theme, you have true cyber-love.

So, you have designed your site to reflect you. You have invested a lot of time and effort, and you are quite delighted with the results of your Thesis theme based site. What happens when a new version of Thesis theme becomes available? Do you need to watch all your hard work disappear and start building your SEO friendly design again, from the start? No. No, you don’t. That is one, in a long list, of my favorite things about Thesis. Whenever you want to modify the style of your site, the underlying html code is never altered. This makes Thesis theme the perfect SEO optimized framework for the Wordpress platform. Your code will always be state-of-the-art with every updated version, which are provided to you free. Thesis theme has built-in SEO options. This means that you don’t need any SEO plug-ins to properly optimize your content for optimal search results. The point-and-click administrative controls makes it simple to create a web site tailored to your specific design ideas. You have an massive amount of control without having to write a single line of code. The support that comes with Thesis is an priceless bonus. The members-only community is filled with over 5,000 of your fellow webmasters, plus, the Thesis Support and Development team. You will have all the support you will ever need to make your custom Thesis theme the best SEO friendly design decision available. Version 1.7 has just come out and you owe it to yourself to look into what I personally consider the absolute best, all-around, web site foundation. I use this theme by Chris Pearson and Brian Clark on every one of my domains. I honestly would not use any other theme. Find out why you just can’t live without the Thesis theme and why a Custom Thesis Theme is the best innovative and user-friendly, SEO-optimized WordPress framework.

Making Money Online Is A Lot Easier For The Marketer Who Knows How To Blog

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Blogging is more complicated than you think. Blogging looks easy until you actually try it and realize that it requires certain techniques to make it work. The good news is that, as an internet marketer, adding a blog to your site can increase your profits and build your selling prospects. If you take the time to learn the few techniques it take to become a successful blogger then you can start making lots of money with very little effort. Read on to find out you can learn to blog like a professional. Some important thing is get traffic to your blog, for that I recomend you a excellent training called Turbo Traffic System.

Make a schedule for blog posts and stick to it. Especially when you are first starting out, a regular posting schedule will help you stay on task. This is a crucial factor in getting more traffic to your blog. It is easier to keep a viewer coming back to your site when he knows exactly when those new posts will go up. You do not have to post everyday (though that may be tempting, especially in the beginning). The great thing about a blog is that you can set your own schedule; some people post once a week, others a few times every week, while some prefer to write one long article every month or so. You just want your site to be a place where people can expect new material at a certain regular time. Make your blog posting a regular commitment that you follow through on!

Set up a posting arrangement so that you have your topics chosen before you post. Deciding on your posting topics does not have to be difficult. A good method is to open up a notebook or text document and do some free association, jotting down everything that comes into your mind that has something to do with your chosen niche. If your blog was about how to lose weight, for example, you could make a list of different diets, theories of nutrition and exercise programs; you’d soon have a long list of topics, giving you many things to post about. Or if your blog is about online marketing, you could make a list about every way you know of to make money online and writes one or more posts about each of these. As with anything else, you will get better and faster at blogging the more you do it.

Send an email to visitors that left a comment on your blog. You can set this up to be an automatic reply with a simple “thanks for commenting” message. Instead, you should customize the message to each particular person. This can be as involved as you like but make sure to include the commenter’s name and something specific about the comment that was left. You will find more training for your success in bloggin in my training center, you can see more details in the bonus for Turbo Traffic System.

It might be tempting to write a lengthy introduction to your blog. You will have the urge to explain why you are starting your blog and what you hope to accomplish. Before you do this, you should remember that you will soon be writing lots of other posts that will soon make this introduction hard to find. Another option is to create an introductory page, which are often titled “About Me,” that accomplishes the same thing. So anyone who visits your blog can simply click on this page and find out about you.

You can do a lot of different things with a blog. Use your blog as a way to express your own unique vision. One of the best things about blogging is that there are no set rules. This is one of the reasons that so many internet marketers enjoy it. It’s a great form of self-expression! What are you still sitting here reading, for don’t you want to start your own blog right now?

What is the HTML Code for creating a A-Z Index / Glossary?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I want to create a A-Z Glossary for my one of my webpages and I don’t have any background of html, Please help. Thanks a ton.

In that page, there would be a one line A-Z alphabet list on top with individual links under each letter.

When you click on individual Letter, ‘C’ for example, it will automatically jump to the right section of index begins with that letter, ie, ‘C’.

That’s a lot of work to do by hand (maintaining the glossary, that is). Setting it up is fairly easy:

<ul>

<li> < a href="#go_a">A</a> </li>
<li> < a href="#go_b">B</a> </li>
<li> < a href="#go_c">B</a> </li>

… etc.

</ul>

<dl>
<dt> <a name="go_a"> A </a> </dt>

<dd>
CONTENTS of A
</dd>

<dt> <a name="go_b"> B </a> </dt>

<dd>
CONTENTS of B
</dd>

<dt> <a name="go_c"> C </a> </dt>

<dd>
CONTENTS of C
</dd>
… etc.

</dl>

Use a list (UL) to create the index; that’s the correct way to make a menu. Then use CSS to style the list so that all letters line up horizontally instead of vertically.

The Definition List (DL) is especially fit for lists like glossaries.

EDIT:

The anchor tag can be EITHER "name" or "href", never both at the same time.

So never put a href inside a a name tag.

What is the best – and easiest way – to learn PHP, MySQL, Perl, CSS, and XHTML?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I have a liberal arts background, and never really studied higher mathematics or computer science. However, I have got into designing basic websites for people lately, using Dreamweaver and some other WYSIWYG programs. I know I need to break out of that, and start learning the programming languages necessary to design dynamic websites and interactive e-commerce solutions. How do I get my head around programming languages like PHP, though?

I’m not sure about Perl, since I’ve never done it, but these sites may be useful.

http://us3.php.net/ – PHP’s manual. Unlike most manuals, this is REALLY helpful.

http://www.w3schools.com/ – A GREAT website with examples and explains things thoroughly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ – I use this a lot for MySQL. Just go to an article like this: "Syntax (SQL)." For instance, for the INSERT syntax, it would be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insert_(SQL)

Can someone recommend a good CSS/XHTML book for an intermediate web designer?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I know a lot of HTML (though I learned it about ten years ago) and some JavaScript, but next to nothing about CSS and Xhtml. What’s a good book for me to read to get myself up-to-date?

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘intermediate’, but if you’re already familiar with html and CSS best practices, then I would recommend Bulletproof Web Design by Dan Cederholm and Transcending CSS from Andy Clarke.

Is there a good CMS that will allow me to code the xhtml myself?

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I’ve taken a lot of time to learn Xhtml and CSS, but the site I want to build requires me to update the content frequently. I want the freedom to code the site exactly as I want it and avoid the "template look," so to speak. I’d also like to employ some light javascript for menus and minor interactive content, but I don’t know how to write javascript.

What is my best bet?

Well, in that case, CMS probably isn’t the right solution for you. Most likely, you should just code each page individually using Notepad or Textedit, since you’re not going for the template look, and then transfer the file via FTP.
